Faculty Position in Early South Asian History
We invite applications for faculty position in Early South Asian History for our Undergraduate Programme.
The programme adopts an interdisciplinary approach to the study of early South Asia, encompassing its histories, languages, material cultures, religious traditions, and intellectual formations from ancient to early medieval periods. We are seeking candidates with expertise in textual sources, as well as critical perspectives on historiography and knowledge production.
The selected candidate is expected to join by October 2026.
- An advanced degree in History or in any other social science field, with a focus on South Asian history.
- We seek candidates with research and teaching expertise in the histories of South Asia prior to 700 CE.
- The candidate must have research level skills in a relevant language of the period.
- Interest in teaching and research on textual analysis relevant to the study of the above-mentioned period of the subcontinent.
- Expertise and interest in manuscript reading, inscriptional analysis etc. Other desirable fields of interest include museum studies, curatorial studies, archival studies, architectural and monumental studies or historical preservation. Expertise in digital techniques and platforms would be of interest.
- Willingness to engage with a socially diverse student cohort
