About the play

Hasire Honnu portrays the personal life and scientific achievements of Dr B. G. L. Swamy, one of India’s distinguished botanists, a noted author, an inspiring teacher, and the son of the renowned Kannada litterateur Dr D. V. Gundappa. The play highlights significant phases of Dr Swamy’s life, including his childhood, youth, education, professional career, and scientific research, offering audiences an insightful glimpse into his remarkable journey.

About the theatre group

Arivu Ranga, Mysuru, is an amateur theatre collective formed by parents, teachers, and members of the governing body of Arivu School, an activity-based Kannada-medium school in Mysuru. The group has been actively producing plays for the past fifteen years. Its science-based productions, including Salim Ali, QED, Abdus Salam, Hasivu, and Hasire Honnu, have been staged extensively and received wide appreciation.

About the artists

The play has been written and managed by M. C. Manohar, designed and directed by Bertie F. Oliveira. While the music is composed by Praveen Belli, with support from Kaju, costume design is by Seemanthini B. Sharma. Others who have contributed include Manoj for lighting design, Ranganath for make-up, and Sreekanth S. (Kanaja) for direction.
