On Becoming a Teacher

In this webinar, gather learning, skills, and values from educators, through conversations and personal reflections

About the session

Choosing what to study after school is an important decision, and teaching is often understood in limited ways. In reality, becoming a teacher today involves strong subject knowledge, critical thinking, professional preparation, and a deep commitment to working with young people and communities.

This webinar is designed to help students understand what it means to become a teacher in today’s world. Through conversation and personal reflections, educators from school and university contexts will share how they became teachers, the experiences that have shaped their journeys, and the learning, skills, and values the profession teaches you.

The session will also introduce participants to undergraduate pathways into teaching, including integrated teacher education programmes that combine disciplinary learning with professional teacher preparation, and help clarify what students can expect from such programmes.
