Omme Hennagu | ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಹೆಣ್ಣಾಗು

Omme Hennagu is a theatrical adaptation of selected stories from Banu Mushtaq’s acclaimed collection Edeya Hanate (Heart Lamp), which won the 2025 International Booker Prize. The play weaves together four stories—The Stone Slabs of Shaista Mahal, Black Cobra, Heart Lamp, and Be a Woman Once, Oh Lord! —into a single narrative that questions the deep structures of patriarchy.

Omme Hennagu is performed by senior Rangayana repertory artists, Shashikala BN and Nandini KR, directed by Dr Savitha Rani, along with Shwetha Rani HK as associate director and designer.

The production emerges from an all-women creative team, bringing a layered and lived perspective to the stage.
