Conversations on Development Management
Reimagining management education for the social sector: Introducing the Executive MBA in development management
About the Session
What should management education look like when it is focussed on social transformation rather than business growth?
In this session, we explore how Azim Premji University’s Executive MBA in Development Management has been designed to meet the real-world challenges of social sector leadership. This programme is rooted in the belief that social change requires context-sensitive, values-driven, and impact-oriented leadership.
Join members of the faculty team as they reflect on:
- Why conventional MBAs often fail to meet the needs of development professionals
- How the programme combines management rigour with a social purpose orientation
- Who the programme is designed for and how it supports professionals in their leadership journeys
- Mid-career professionals working in NGOs, CSR, government, or public systems
- Entrepreneurs or founders in the development space looking to build institutional capacities
- Individuals from corporate sectors transitioning to mission-driven roles
- Discover how management principles are being adapted for the development context
- Understand the pedagogical design and structure of the Executive MBA in Development Management
- Learn from faculty members who are practitioners and researchers in the field
