COVID-19 and Livelihoods in India Phone Survey (CLIPS): Early Results

Centre for Sustainable Employment at Azim Premji University, in collaboration with civil society organisation across the country, is conducting phone surveys to understand the impact of the Corona pandemic and the subsequent lockdown on livelihoods and employment.

In this webinar we will present findings based on data from 3500+ workers across 10 states. These include self employed women, farmers, NREGA workers, migrants, street vendors and casual wage as well as regular wage workers. Our findings indicate extensive job losses and loss of earnings after the lockdown was announced. We will also present findings on access to government schemes and the extent to which households have benefited from them. Finally we will discuss the policy implications of our findings for the post lockdown recovery going forward.
