India is a place of many social and economic inequalities. How do we address these problems and our limited ecological resources in this globalised world? In this course, we ask if another world is possible. How can the quality of life be improved for all in a sustainable way? What is a good life? Who gets to decide and define this? We discuss these questions within the fields of development, education, health and democracy. We look at how different human communities in different places relate to their ecological systems differently, and how human models of prosperity and growth impact the resources available for us to use for our future. What will shape India’s futures?
