Fundamentals of Financial Management

Plan, organise and monitor the financial resources of an organisation to achieve its objectives

Social Sector Organisations (SSOs) rely on a variety of financial resources to meet their goals and objectives, and good financial management is imperative for any SSO for its efficient, effective and continued functioning. While SSOs differ from organisations in the corporate world, the core principles of accounting and finance are, for the most part, the same. This course will provide the participants with a foundational understanding of accounting and financial management principles as applicable to SSOs. It will help participants to understand and interpret financial statements of different types of SSOs through the lenses of prudence, efficiency, risk, and sustainability. It will also introduce the participants to programme budgets, internal control systems and audit requirements.
