Field Practice in Development

Explore if your ideas of a better world are in sync with the realities of rural India

You have some ideas about what is wrong with society and what a better world would look like, but do others share the same views about society?

Do your ideas stand the test of reality?

Are your ideas of a better world in sync with the realities of rural India?

These are questions you would be answering through this course.

For three weeks, you will be immersed within a rural community, facilitated by a host organisation. You will be interacting with the local elite, the marginalised groups as well as state representatives to understand how development works in action and how different stakeholders play a part in bringing about certain development outcomes.

For instance, you may interact with local panchayat officials, anganwadi workers, block level officials, village elite and the village communities to understand why anganwadi centres work the way they do.
