Field Immersion: Learning and Reflection
Reflect on development contexts (in terms of lived realities of communities and local institutions) where social sector organisations operate
The Field Immersion enables participants to better understand the context in which social sector organisations operate. This includes the local communities, institutions and the organisation itself which is embedded in the communities. Participants will observe, engage and reflect on the lived realities of communities, the need for and context of development action.
As the participants come from different professional training and work experience backgrounds, this field component aims to bring the cohort to develop a shared social sector sensibility. At the end, participants will appreciate the heterogeneity of communities and the non-linear nature of development. They will understand how the social-economic-cultural contexts / positions of different groups matter in mediating development processes and outcomes. They would also begin to visualise how different social sector organisations aim to work with such complexities of a development context.
