This course seeks to introduce the key developments of European history roughly since the fall of Constantinople in 1453. The event is not assumed or framed as a singular event leading to tumultuous changes in early Modern Europe. The only purpose that it serves is to provide a clear and sort of convenient chronological marker from which we trace the long-term changes within Europe. It provides a survey of key developments in various aspects of European life from the 1450s to 1800s beginning with the changing order of politics and royally chartered private corporations into the tropics and other continents and concludes with a discussion on European Enlightenment and modernity.
