Applied Problem-Solving for Climate and Sustainability

For students who seek to graduate with a 2 year MSc

This 10-credit course is designed for students who have chosen to pursue the MSc by Research option. The course focuses on developing student capacity for advanced applied or basic research by developing problem-solving skills. It will also include two mandatory workshops on sustainability research ethics — to emphasize the importance of ethical considerations in research — and popular
research communication, to strengthen their capacity for effective public presentation of findings. This structure ensures a solid foundation for their thesis and equips them with a deeper understanding of research planning to enable them to pursue future professional roles. In addition, students will identify a thesis topic, conduct a detailed preliminary literature review, and develop a research plan and proposal.

Grading will be based on evaluation of multiple components such as workshop outputs, group problem-solving projects, literature review and research proposal presentation.
