Air Quality for Climate and Sustainability
Explore the science, impacts, and solutions of air pollution in India through hands-on projects and policy, technology, and community-based approaches.
This course examines the pressing issue of air pollution in India, focusing on the science, policies, and technologies for effective air quality management. Students will understand the different types of air pollution and learn about common sources of indoor and outdoor pollution in rural, industrial and urban settings, as well as impacts on environment and public health for communities in different socioeconomic strata. They will learn about commonly used mitigation strategies, and gain laboratory experience on air pollution measurement. Collaborating with an organisation under the guidance of a faculty mentor, students will work on practical projects aimed at air pollution assessment, source identification and apportionment and air quality improvement, gaining insights into real-world challenges and solutions
