Biography
Saurabh Singanapalli is part of the Teacher Education group at Azim Premji University. He specialises in language teaching and communication, specifically the teaching of writing, and has also previously taught courses in English literature, critical thinking, and visual communication. In addition to several years of classroom teaching experience at the undergraduate level, he has worked in the industry as a materials developer and as a translator and language specialist (French-Spanish-English), and has been part of a language services startup.
Saurabh’s PhD thesis was on exploring the content features of static images used as prompts for eliciting narrative writing from young elementary school ESL learners, following on from his MPhil dissertation on using graphic novels to teach writing. At the undergraduate and postgraduate level, he has specialised in literature and media and communication respectively. He also holds a Diplome Superieur in French and an Advanced Diploma in Spanish.
Saurabh’s research interests in writing and materials development have led him to contribute to several English Language Teaching projects, which include authoring a fifth-grade English textbook based on the CBSE syllabus. His personal interests include quizzing, debating, and writing, and he loves watching movies and playing games of all sorts.
