About the programme 

Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, is organising ​‘Sahitya Sahavasa’ on 1 Feb 2026 in Tumkur – the sixth edition in a series of events to celebrate Karnataka’s rich cultural milieu, its literary icons, and the Kannada language. 

The event to be held at Kannada Bhavana, Tumkur, aims to celebrate the lives and literary contributions of two eminent contemporary writers Dr Baragur Ramachandrappa and Smt Lalitha Siddabasavaiah. Noted Literary Critic Dr H.S. Raghavendra Rao will inaugurate the event and deliver the keynote address.

The day-long programme will feature talks by writers Dr Rajappa Dalavai, Sri R.G. Halli Nagaraj, Dr Asha Bagganadu, Sri C.H. Raghunath and Smt Divyashree. B.N; recitation of poems, rendition of theatre songs in honour of Nataka Ratna Gubbi Veeranna by Dr Lakshmanadas and troupe, an exhibition of portraits of the above two writers. 

Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the literary competitions organised for students as part of the programme.
