About the session

The title of this seminar is inspired from Amartya Sen’s famous article titled, ​“Development: Which Way Now?” published in The Economic Journal in 1983. Just like the disciplines of development economics and development studies, the development sector arose in a certain historical context with a promise and some key principles directing its work. What was this historical context in India and what were these key principles? In the light of the experience of last 79 years of Indian independence, where do we stand now? What is the promise the development sector can make now the people of India?

Who should attend?

This programme is designed for professionals with eight or more years of experience in the development sector (like livelihood, sustainability, education, health, sanitation and hygiene, ecology, etc.) currently at a senior position in an organisation. It is open to those working in NGOs, social movements organisations and grassroots organisations.
