Celebrating India through Music
Languages: Manipuri, Garhwali, English, and Tulu | Ages: All | Duration: 180 minutes | Entry Fee: Free

About the event
Mile Sur is a music event to celebrate our Republic Day. The evening brings together musicians from different parts of the country, performing in languages that are rarely heard on mainstream platforms.
The concept is straightforward — to celebrate India’s diversity through music.
Each artist performs in their own language and musical tradition. The event does not attempt to blend these styles into one. Instead, it places them alongside one another – allowing each voice and sound from every region to resonate on its own terms.
Hosted by IHA in collaboration with Azim Premji University
About the artists
Alva Kuuto (Karnataka):
A contemporary folk band rooted in the rhythms, stories, and musical forms of Tulu-speaking regions, Alva Kuuto brings coastal traditions alive through percussion-heavy arrangements and collective singing.
Nganthoibi Ningthoujam (Manipur):
A vocalist grounded in Manipuri folk traditions, Nganthoibi’s music carries the lyrical and melodic sensibilities of the Northeast – intimate, reflective, and deeply tied to land and ritual.
Martand Badoni (Uttarakhand):
A singer and composer working with Garhwali folk music, Martand’s music draws from mountain life, migration, and everyday emotion – songs that travel orally across generations in the Himalayas.
