Fifth Residential Workshop on Land Governance & Development

Jointly organised by Azim Premji University, Bengaluru and Landstack, New Delhi

Land Governance Workshop Poster

Building on the success of previous editions, this year’s workshop will provide an in-depth exploration of land governance — its complexities, intersections with development, business, and climate, and the critical questions surrounding land rights and resource management.

Land is central to economic transitions, climate resilience, social justice, and food sovereignty. Yet, governance structures around land remain one of the most contested policy areas globally. The Land Governance and Development Workshop 2025 offers an in-depth, interdisciplinary learning experience to navigate the complexities of land governance in the context of development, business, and climate challenges.

This five-day residential workshop, co-hosted by Azim Premji University and Landstack, brings together leading scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and development professionals to explore pressing land-related challenges through expert-led discussions, case studies, and interactive peer learning.

Since its inception in 2022, this workshop has become a key learning platform for professionals from diverse backgrounds — including government officials, researchers, development practitioners, legal experts, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) professionals — who seek to understand and engage with contemporary land governance debates.

We welcome applications from:

  • Professionals from NGOs/INGOs, donor agencies, and the private sector working on corporate social responsibility, resettlement, and investment decisions.
  • Academicians, doctoral and graduate students researching land governance.
  • Journalists and media professionals covering land, development, and environmental issues.
  • Lawyers and government officials involved in land administration and policy.
