NWFC Book of Nature Post

Nature writing for children is a field that has grown vastly in recent years, with many authors, old and new, contributing a fascinating array of books aimed at diverse ages, from toddlers to young adults.

To deepen our collective engagement with this genre, Azim Premji University brings you a webinar series #SeekingSustainability: Nature Writing For Children. The series will be of special interest for aspiring writers, parents, educators, and book lovers everywhere.

In this webinar, Deepa Agarwal and Vatsala Kaul-Banerjee will talk about the process of collating and publishing The Young Earth Lover’s Book of Nature, a compendium on nature conservation.

About the speakers

Deepa Agarwal is the author of over 60 books for children and adults. Several of her books have received awards. Her greatest award, however, is the presence of five adorable grandchildren in her life — a wonderful adventure and a great learning experience too, according to her. She continues to receive enlightenment in their company.

Vatsala Kaul-Banerjee has almost always been working as a writer and editor in the children’s space – at Target – the iconic children’s magazine of the 80s and 90s and as editor of Teens Today – both from the India Today Group; then as Commissioning Editor at Puffin (Penguin India); and as editor of a parenting magazine, Child; and finally as a publisher with Hachette India. Now she’s Publisher, Children’s & Young Adult (YA) Books, at Hachette India. She loves unglamorous’ animals, including insects and reptiles, and dislikes manicured gardens.
