The Mela | KathaVana 2022 – 23 Children’s Literature Festival
Introducing children in person to different ways of engaging with literature

Join us for the 11th edition of KathaVana—a bilingual (Kannada and English) annual children’s literature festival hosted by Azim Premji University since 2012 — to promote children’s engagement with literature and introduce teachers to the power and relevance of literature in children’s lives.
Each edition of KathaVana takes up a theme and explores issues related to that theme more closely. The theme for KathaVana 2022 is Nurturing Children’s Response to Literature (Sāhityadeḍege makkaḷa pratispandane pōṣisuvudu).
We welcome you to join us for our On-campus Children’s Literature Festival (fondly called The Mela). The event will have around 1,000 people (including 825 children) in attendance at Azim Premji University’s Bengaluru campus.
Different authors, illustrators, theatre performers, storytellers, poets, publishers, folk art performers, etc., will set up literary activity-based stalls in different classrooms to introduce children in person to different ways of engaging with literature as per the following plan:
