#plainspeak: Resilient Cities

Plainspeak

By 2050, over 68% of the human population will live in urban areas. Cities will bear the maximum brunt. How to make them more resilient?

By estimates, over 55% of the human population now lives in urban areas, which will grow to 68% by 2050. This means that for the first time in human history, most humans live in a built environment rather than a natural one.

Cities, naturally, will bear the maximum brunt, as they are densely populated. Hence, we need to relook at our cities from an ecological perspective — make them resilient.
