The importance of early years and the need to provide holistic development for the child is well established. It has been globally acknowledged that the first 6 to 8 years of a child’s life are the most critical years for lifelong development and there is a growing need to provide the child with experiences that will optimise their development.

The last decade has seen the much-needed impetus and thrust to Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in our country. The National ECCE policy 2013 was a landmark policy in bringing this impetus. The National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) for ECCE and Foundational Stage 2022 have given further direction and vision to provide quality childhood learning and development opportunities for all children of our country.

At Azim Premji University, we aim to contribute to this vision for young children through our degree, diploma and certificate programmes, thus developing well-trained professionals in theoretical and practical aspects of ECCE

Our faculty also contribute to field programmes and curriculum development of different State level initiatives. This enriches both teaching and learning processes in our programmes as well the State initiatives through the necessary theoretical and academic inputs necessary for any curricular activity.
