Knowledge, Value, and Reality

Develop essential skills like engaging with opposing viewpoints, clarity of expression, and the foundations for rigorous creativity.

Welcome to the introduction to philosophy, a course designed to equip students with the core philosophical capacities, especially working with others you disagree with, clarity of expression, and the foundations for rigorous creativity. It introduces students to the basics of the philosophical toolbox by focusing on contemporary issues in major areas of philosophy: epistemology, metaphysics, and value theory. We’ll study topics such as testimonial injustice and the problem of epistemic bubbles (epistemology), the reality of biological sex (metaphysics), and the importance as well as limitations of free speech (value theory).
