Introduction to Ecology

Explores interactions between organisms and their environments and how these interactions shape the distribution and abundance of species.

This course will facilitate a deeper understanding of ecology and will build on capacities developed in Introduction to organisms and ecosystems. Students will explore interactions between organisms and their environments and how these interactions shape the distribution and abundance of species. A systematic introduction to the properties and processes governing individuals, populations, communities, and ecosystems will be complemented by hands-on activities requiring students to make careful observations, conduct experiments to test hypotheses and explore ecological concepts through simulations.
