Creative Expressions — Football

Understanding the interdependence of individuals through the group dynamics of football.

The course looks at Football through analogies of any form of team activity, extending the concept to the wider identity of the self interacting with society/world. Participants will explore the identity of the self as being a part of a group/team, the interdependence of the two entities and how the individual is able to express themselves in different ways. The processed based learning in this course looks at expression as an outcome of the development of 4 areas:

  • Physical: the training and use of the body. This is the foundation on which every action of an individual is built. This can be broken down further into 4 areas — speed, agility, endurance and strength.

  • Technical: the skill required to move and manipulate the ball — dribbling, passing, shooting, throwing etc.

  • Tactical: the cerebral aspect of the game — tactics, strategy, rules, knowledge of the sport and their use

  • Emotional: the most important influence on the extent an individual can learn.
