Our engagement in North East India
We work in all 8 states of North East India—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.
We work with a range of functionaries — Teachers, Teacher educators, Senior functionaries, Members working in Education boards and Practitioners working in NGOs
Broad areas that we work are:
- Material development (textbooks, handbooks, teacher manual, resource books, etc)
- Capacity development of teacher educators and teachers across all the stages of school education
- Reforming state board examinations
- Reforming state Teachers Eligibility Test (TET)
- Developing state curriculum frameworks and Position Papers on various themes
Material Development
- Supported the State Resource Group (SRG) in developing teacher training modules and lesson plans for Classes I – XII.
- Supported SCERT in the development of Teacher’s Manual for Preschool I‑III
Capacity Development
Facilitated professional development programmes for anganwadi workers, preschool teachers, school teachers, head teachers, and vocational education teachers.
Curriculum Reform
Supported SCERT in the development of state-level Position Papers across identified thematic areas.
Work with NGO Partners
Collaborated with Sunbird Trust Academy to strengthen teacher professional development for foundational and middle stages and school leadership.
Material Development
Supported the State Resource Group (SRG) in designing online Continuous Professional Development courses for elementary English teachers and assisted SCERT in developing a curriculum on values and dispositions.
Capacity Development
- Facilitated professional development programmes for teacher educators on ‘Language Across the Curriculum’ and supported capacity-building initiatives for teachers from government school and Adarsh vidyalaya sanghathan and faculty members from higher education institutions.
- Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR)- Capacity development workshops with education functionaries on visioning, development of education perspective, personal effectiveness, leadership, and communication with block- and district-level functionaries.
Reforming State Board Examinations
Facilitated workshops on competency-based assessment for State and District Examination Committee members and supported the development of item banks for secondary-stage core subjects.
Work with NGO Partners
Collaborated with NGO partners on English language teaching, curriculum and material development, and learning recovery initiatives for government school students following the pandemic.
Material Development
Facilitated professional development programmes for SCERT and DIET faculty on school curriculum, curricular reform, the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE), and subject-specific pedagogical approaches.
Curricular Reform
Supported SCERT in the development of the State Curriculum Framework Foundational Stages (SCF- FS) and State Curriculum Framework School Education (SCF-SE).
Work with NGO Partners
Designed baseline assessment tools in literacy and numeracy for NGO-led educational initiatives. Supported NGO members in building capacities of school teachers across all the stages.
Material Development
- Supported DERT in developing a DElEd resource compendium, ECCE and FLN curriculum materials, and the Foundational Stage English syllabus and textbooks.
- Supported DERT in design of a six-month Certificate Course in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)
- Supported DERT in design of teacher training modules in the domain of Gender, Science, Social Science and English for middle and secondary stages.
Capacity Development
Facilitated professional development programmes for DERT and DIET faculty, teachers of Classes I – X.
Curriculum Reform
Supported DERT in the development of the State Curriculum Framework School Education (SCF- SE).
Reforming State Board Examinations
Facilitated workshops for MBOSE members on the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) and competency-based assessment practices.
Material Development
Supported SCERT in the development of state-level textbooks for Classes I – V in English, EVS, and Mathematics, and contributed to the development of the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) curriculum.
Capacity Development
Supported the professional development of teachers, teacher educators, and senior educational functionaries on competency-based approaches to pedagogy and assessment.
Material Development
Supported SCERT in developing the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) curriculum, teacher handbook, and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) materials, while also mentoring curriculum developers and supporting pilot implementation processes.
Capacity Development
Facilitated professional development programmes for teacher educators, SCERT faculty, and SIEMAT faculty on learning outcomes, competency-based pedagogy and assessment, educational leadership, and institutional development.
Curriculum Reform
Supported SCERT in the development of state-level Position Papers across identified thematic areas.
Work with NGO Partners
Facilitated professional development programmes for NGO partners on subject pedagogy and teaching-learning processes across school subjects.
Material Development
- Supported SCERT in reviewing DElEd materials and developing state-level textbooks for Classes I – V in English, EVS, and Mathematics, including mentoring textbook writers, supporting textbook pilots, facilitating statewide teacher orientation, and developing school-based assessment materials aligned with the new curriculum.
- Supported the development of school-based assessment tools and question papers aligned with curriculum and textbook reforms.
Capacity Development
- Facilitated professional development programmes for SCERT and DIET faculty, senior secondary science teachers, newly recruited SCERT faculty, and members on educational leadership, subject pedagogy, and assessment reform.
- Supported the state in setting up a State Assessment Cell and contextualisation of Holistic Progress Cards (HPC)
Reforming State Teachers Eligibility Test
Supported SCERT in restructuring the State Teachers Eligibility Test (STET) through the development of subject-wise assessment frameworks, blueprints, and item banks, and by mentoring Working Group members involved in the process. Click here to know more
