Vinay is a part of the Teacher Education programme at the University. He joined after spending over a decade teaching English language, literacy, and social science at the middle and high school levels at Mallasajjan School, Dharwad.
Apart from these areas, he engaged children in the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and sports. He also headed the school for a considerable duration of time. This gave him exposure to various components of the schooling system, administration, engaging the community, and above all, a chance to mentor teachers in their professional growth.
He was associated with an NGO that worked to support the teaching-learning process in government schools. He also took part in workshops for language teachers.
Vinay has a BA degree in English Literature, Sociology and Philosophy and a BEd degree from Karnatak University, Dharwad.
In 2014, he received an MA in Education degree from Azim Premji University. His explorations during the MA course were in literacy pedagogy, teacher appraisal, teacher identity, educational assessment, and teacher professional development.
Vinay is particularly interested in language pedagogy and finding schooling processes that help a school become more inclusive, equitable, and respectful of diversity.
