Biography

Manisha specialises in atmospheric chemistry. She completed her Master’s in Environmental Science from the University of Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. She worked on the abundance, phase partitioning, scavenging processes, and source identification of atmospheric aerosols and trace gases in the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) region as part of her PhD in Environmental Science at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.

She then continued to work at JNU as a senior researcher in an international project funded by United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) for reactive nitrogen budget assessment across South Asia. Thereafter, she successively worked as a senior project associate in the Delhi Zonal Centre of National Environmental Engineering Research (CSIR-NEERI) and as a postdoctoral fellow in the nanoparticle and air quality laboratory at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan. During her work at CSIR-NEERI, she was involved in various projects of national importance that focused on air quality management planning.

In Taiwan, her work revolved around handling air pollution control devices and studying the relationship between tropospheric ozone and its precursors using various statistical tools. During this period, and before, she actively complemented her research work with vigorous writing which is reflected in her publications. She has also been a recipient of various prestigious travel grants from SERB, CSIR, AGU, NASA, and TAAR, among others, to present her research at international conferences.

Apart from research and teaching, she is passionate about scientific outreach activities. She believes that the global agenda for the environment will remain an elusive frontier until the members of the scientific community and all the different human communities join hands.
