Biography
Anuja’s academic interests initially emerged from English literary and cultural studies traditions, with a focus on gender, sexuality, and representation. While engaging with gender studies, her research experiences, along with her own positional encounters within academic spaces, gave her a sharp insight into questions of educational access, systemic inequities in higher education, and the relationship between identity and institutional structures. This period marked a decisive shift in how she understood language as inseparable from inclusion and everyday educational practice.
She has worked most recently as a Teach for India Fellow at a municipal school in Delhi, and earlier as an Academic Counsellor with the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) at IGNOU, Delhi and also as an Assistant Professor in English at Stella Maris College, Chennai. These teaching experiences have brought her into close contact with learners across diverse socio-economic and linguistic contexts, further enriching her understanding of English language pedagogy in India. She has a master’s degree and M.Phil degree in English from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and the University of Madras respectively.
