Blood Donation Camp

One blood donation can save up to three lives. Giving a gift of life to someone is the most precious act of kindness.

National Service Scheme (NSS) and Azim Premji University, in collaboration with the Red Cross Society and Rotary Attibele, Sarjapura, are organising a Blood Donation Camp.

Guidelines

  1. Donor must read and sign the consent form given by them and proceed for a doctor’s check-up.
  2. A team of doctors will check weight, Blood Pressure and Haemoglobin.
  3. Donors will proceed for blood donation, if approved by the doctor.
  4. Refreshments will be provided after collection of blood.
  5. Appreciation certificate will be provided to the donor.
  6. In case anyone feels weak or sick after donating blood, the team of doctors will monitor. 

Donor eligibility requirements:

  1. Donors should be in the age group of 18 to 60 years.
  2. Donors should not weigh less than 50 kilograms.
  3. The temperature and pulse of the donor shall be normal.
  4. Haemoglobin should not be less than 12.5 grams.
  5. Immunisation and vaccination: Should NOT have had shots for any of the following — Cholera, Typhoid, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Plague, Gamma globulin, COVID in the last  15 days; Rabies vaccination in the last 1 year.
  6.  Tattoo/​Acupuncture: Should NOT have had any in the last 6 months.

Do’s and Don’ts before and after donating blood:

  1. Get nutritional-rich food, before the day of blood donation.
  2. Be well-rested and hydrated.
  3. Avoid taking any toxic substances.
  4. Avoid taking Aspirin 2 days before donating blood.
  5. Wear a shirt with sleeves that can be rolled above your elbows.
  6. Relax, listen to music, talk to other donors, or read while you donate.
  7. Relax for a few minutes at the refreshment and recovery area — have some cookies or other snacks — you have earned it!
  8. Tell your friends about your good deed.
  9. Drink extra fluids after the donation.
  10. Don’t do any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise for the rest of the day.
