This seminar will feature Madhav Ajjampur, a talented poet and translator who is the author of the recently released The Pollen Waits on Tiptoe, a collection of his English translations of selected Kannada poems by Dattatreya Ramachandra Bendre, better known as Da Ra Bendre.

He will be speaking about the practice of translation and the rasika in Da Ra Bendre’s poetry. Ajjampur will discuss the organic development of a personal theory of translation, touch on the issue of fidelity in poetry translation, discuss his recent book’s experiments with the presentation of translations, consider the significance of the rasika in Bendre’s poetry, and recite and sing some passages from the original poems and translations.
