An introduction to research methods in economics.

Social science research allows students to make sense of the social world, to discover why people think and behave the way they do. This course is designed to build core competencies in research by providing an introduction to research methods used in economics. The course has two parts to it, viz. introduction to social research and an introduction to qualitative methods. The first part of this course aims to provide basic ideas on how to think as a researcher and cover various aspects involved in the practice of social research and how these relate to the strategy and design of research. The second part provides the essential features and major approaches in qualitative research and concludes with hands-on exercises on qualitative data analysis.
