Introduction to Biophysics

Explore this new and exciting area of research in which physicists and biologists work together in interdisciplinary ways.

In this course, you will learn broadly what it is that biophysics is and does. For this, we go over a primer on biology, which includes a study of macromolecules, basic biological processes such as proteins, DNA and translation. Some important concepts in this field include numbers in biology, thermodynamics and chemical processes inside the cell and ideas on the origin of life and multicellularity. We help you explore how to use physical frameworks to quantify the way a biological system works. This course includes lectures, accessible reading and student presentations.
