Ethics and Moral Philosophy

How do we decide the best course of action? What do we think of as a good life? Are value judgements that we make universal or subjective?

In this course, you will learn how to critically and creatively approach the question of the ethical nature of your own actions and the world around you. You will learn to understand these moral dilemmas we face through the theoretical concepts and theories of philosophy like analytical philosophy, feminism, Indian philosophical thought, pragmatism and phenomenology. There is a long history of many cultures around the world that address complex moral dilemmas in different ways through epics, parables, religious doctrines and other approaches. You will also understand how to apply ethical theories to contemporary problems we face in the world today.
