There was a time when a Kannada film felt incomplete without him. In many of Dr. Rajkumar’s most memorable films, Narasimharaju was right there beside him, turning ordinary scenes into moments audiences would remember for years.

Making people laugh is serious business, and Narasimharaju had mastered it. A raised eyebrow, an awkward dance step, a clever pause or a perfectly delivered line was all he needed to light up the screen. But there was much more to him than comedy. He could dance, move audiences in emotional scenes and bring warmth and honesty to every supporting role he played.
This July marked both his 103rd birth anniversary and his 47th death anniversary — a fitting moment to remember not only the legendary Hasya Chakravarthi, but also the man behind the laughter.

ಹಾಸ್ಯ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿ ನರಸಿಂಹರಾಜು ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗ ಕಂಡ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಹಾಸ್ಯನಟ. ನಗಿಸುವುದು ಬಹಳ ಕಷ್ಟದ ಕೆಲಸ, ಆದರೆ ನಗಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ Ph.D ಮಾಡಿದ ಕಲಾವಿದ. ನರಸಿಂಹರಾಜು ಇಲ್ಲದ ಸಿನಿಮಾವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವ ಕಾಲವೊಂದಿತ್ತು. ನಾಯಕ, ನಾಯಕಿಯಷ್ಟೇ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಿದ್ದು ಈ ಹಾಸ್ಯ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿ. ಇವರು ಪರದೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಂದರೆ ಸಾಕು, ನಗುವಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕೊರತೆ ಇರ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹಾವ, ಭಾವ, ಡ್ಯಾನ್ಸ್, emotional, comedy, ಪೋಷಕ ಪಾತ್ರ ಹೀಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಿ, ಪಾತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾದ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಒದಗಿಸಿದವರು ನರಸಿಂಹರಾಜು. ಹಾಸ್ಯದ ದಂತಕಥೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ, ಅದರ ಹಿಂದಿನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ಅರಿವುದು ಬಹಳ ಮುಖ್ಯ.
ಈ ಜುಲೈ ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ 103ನೆ ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಬ್ಬದ ಸಂಭ್ರಮವು ಹಾಗೂ 47ನೆ ವರ್ಷದ ಪುಣ್ಯಸ್ಮರಣೆಯೂ ಇರುವುದರಿಂದ ನರಸಿಂಹರಾಜು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವುದು ನಮ್ಮ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯೂ ಹೌದು.
ಅಂಥ ಅದ್ಭುತವಾದ ಹಾಸ್ಯ ದಿಗ್ಗಜನ ಗುಣ, ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವ, ತೆರೆ ಹಿಂದಿನ ರೋಚಕ ಘಟನೆಗಳ ಕುರಿತ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಮಾತು ಕತೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ನರಸಿಂಹರಾಜು ಅವರ ಪುತ್ರಿ ಸುಧಾ ನರಸಿಂಹರಾಜು ಹಾಗೂ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗ S D ಅರವಿಂದ್ ಅವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ವರ್ಷಾ ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರ ಅವರ ಮಾತು ಕತೆ ‘ನೂರಕ್ಕೆ ನೂರು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ’ ದಲ್ಲಿ.
