Biography

Swarnali has five years of experience in teaching English prior to joining the University. Her previous work experience includes serving as a School Coordinator and PGT English teacher at Faculty Higher Secondary School in Guwahati, where she mentored over 250 students in various activities such as Model United Nations (MUN), debate competitions, and recitation. She recently completed TESOL Methodology, an online teacher training course delivered by the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) TESOL Professional Training Program.

She implemented blended and experiential learning in the classroom, which impacted 250+ students, and cultivated relationships with parents for a complete support network. She also prepared and implemented English curriculum tailored to students’ interests, increasing productivity by 45 percent, and trained colleagues and other fellow teachers on the utilisation of Google Workspace for teaching, reducing paperwork by 86 percent in 2020.

Before her career in education, she worked as an anchor, copywriter, producer, and voice artist at North East Live, a regional English news channel in Guwahati. She also coordinated with producers to create programme content, and interviewed music artists for the entertainment segment.

She has a Master’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts (English Literature), and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree from Gauhati University, Assam. 

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, singing, sketching, and cloud spotting.
