Biography
Soumili (also known as Mili) has a Master’s Degree in Sociology from South Asian University, New Delhi and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Presidency University, Kolkata.
Her Master’s thesis examined the category of risk through the lens of affect theory during the period of COVID-19 lockdowns and was based on fieldwork conducted in a middle-class gated community and its adjacent slum area in Kolkata, West Bengal.
Her areas of interest include urban studies, sociology of space, sensory ethnography, affect theory, pedagogy, and feminist theory. In her spare time, she enjoys solving sudoku and cooking.
