Biography

Shinjini is an education practitioner with over a decade’s experience of working with teachers, teacher educators and education professionals. She has earlier engaged with civil society organisations like Vikramshila Education Resource Society, Kolkata and Bodh Siksha Samiti, Jaipur. Her areas of work included teacher professional development, impact assessment, curriculum development, research and documentation. 

Shinjini recently submitted her PhD thesis from the School of Education, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. Her research explored Siksha Satra, an institution set up by Rabindranath Tagore and its journey and evolution over time, to understand its pedagogic significance and relevance in contemporary education discourse. She has an MA in Elementary Education from TISS, Mumbai, and an MSc in Economics from the University of Calcutta. 

Shinjini’s areas of research interest include exploring the educational ideas of eminent philosophers and their impact on the education system and curricular practice, perspectives on teaching and learning of social sciences in middle and high school, and issues related to teacher professional development. 

In her free time, Shinjini likes to indulge in cooking and exploring new cuisines. She also enjoys reading and discussing opinion pieces in news magazines and portals.
