Biography

Sharib Zeya is a sociologist by training. He did his BA from Hindu College and MA, MPhil, and PhD from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. 

His doctoral research, ethnographic in its grounding, was focused on exploring the social, political and legal entanglements in the seam of the land question in the rural countryside of Bihar. His research interests lie at the intersection of law, justice, and society. Currently, he is engaged in understanding Muslims’ responses to laws in India through the study of episodes of political-legal relevance in contemporary India.

Previously, he has taught at the University of Delhi and worked with the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS). Apart from teaching and research, Zeya was also part of curriculum framing committees for various courses at the undergraduate level under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF) for the University of Delhi.

Sharib enjoys reading parables, cooking, and playing badminton.
