Biography

Gurbachan Singh is a part of the Translations Initiative team.

Gurbachanji joins us from the Department of School Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh, where he was Assistant Director. He has over thirty years of experience in the field of school education and literacy, both at State and District levels. He has also worked as Director of State Resource Centre, Bhopal, and has represented the State of Madhya Pradesh at many national forums.

Gurbachanji is a prolific reader, and is well-known for his work in children’s literature. He was the editor of Palash’, a teacher’s magazine, and the founder-editor of Gullak’, a magazine for children. In August 2003, Gurbachanji presented a paper in SAARC Book Fair on Reading Preferences of Children and easy accessibility of such reading materials’. He has also worked as a Senior Consultant for the National Council of Applied Economic Research.

He is a post-graduate in Zoology, in Economics, as well as in Education.

  • Presently Acting Editor of Pathshala Bheetar aur Bahar an Educational magazine of Azim Premji University.
