Biography

Fathima Ruby is part of the Academic Resource Centre at the University. Earlier, she worked as a freelance copyeditor and translator. She has also worked as a copyeditor at ANSRSource Bengaluru (2015−16). She is interested in exploring the relationship between language and identity in the Indian context.

Fathima has a Master’s degree in Linguistics and a Bachelor’s degree in English from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Hyderabad. 

She worked on a descriptive and socio-linguistic study of Kumbaran: A migrant potter community in Kerala as part of her PhD between 2016 to 2022 in the Department of Linguistics and Phonetics, EFLU, Hyderabad. 

During her Master’s, she worked on a dissertation on a diachronic study of Malappuram dialect of Malayalam: An account of phonological and morphological processes.
