Biography
Dhruva enjoys thinking about ways to create more inclusive and participative physical education and playing cultures in educational spaces and communities. He has been a school teacher at different schools across the country for primary and high school age groups, teaching languages, theatre, physical education, and engaging in library work.
He has worked with students from different contexts on using sports and games as a way to engage in reflection and dialogue. He enjoys facilitating and creating spaces of play that are inclusive and diverse. He is keenly interested in changing the way we view physical education, hoping to make it as relevant an aspect of our children’s [and adults’] growth as the other ‘curricular’ school subjects.
Dhruva is also passionate about picture books and children’s literature. He has most recently worked with the School of Education at Azim Premji University on a research project looking at the impact of children’s literature on prejudicial attitudes in children.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Delhi University, and an MA in Education from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. He generally enjoys being outdoors, reading, playing, swimming, climbing, cooking, eating, or some combination thereof.
