Biography
Deepshikha has an MPhil and PhD in Inclusive Early Childhood Education from the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi. In her research, she examined the issues of inclusion and quality under various government and non-government early childhood interventions and developed case studies on inclusive policies and practices with a focus on young children with disabilities.
Deepshikha taught MA Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) course at the School of Education Studies, Ambedkar University Delhi and worked on programme evaluation projects at the Centre for Early Childhood Education and Development (CECED), Ambedkar University Delhi. Before this, she was associated with National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and contributed to the National Achievement Survey conducted by the Education Survey Division, NCERT.
Deepshikha also gained experience in the social development sector and contributed to Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Childcare fields. She worked most recently with Mobile Creches, a pioneer non-profit organisation in the field of childcare, where she led the Research, Monitoring & Evaluation function.
In addition to core ECCE, she is also interested in exploring the cross-cutting climate issues affecting women and children from the perspectives of social vulnerabilities and resilience. She completed Diploma in Assessment and Management of Climate-related Risks from the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
Further, she carried out a research project on the gendered impacts of urban flooding in Mumbai and the experiences of women and children in the informal urban spaces. She also worked in areas of pregnancy nutrition, maternal health and child nutrition and contributed to research studies at the Centre for Study of Regional Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Deepshikha enjoys visiting forests and beaches and loves reading, music, and yoga.
