Dechamma is a member of the Community Engagement Initiative. 

She has previously been part of the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability at the University where she was involved in several research projects pertaining to climate change, urban commons, and archival research.

She has previously worked as a project manager for several sustainability initiatives for lakes in Bangalore.

She enjoys qualitative research and networking with the community. 

She has a Master’s degree in Development with a specialisation in Sustainability from Azim Premji University and a Bachelor’s degree in Astrophysics.
