Biography

Bhuvaneswari has a Masters in Speech Language Pathology from the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore and an MPhil and PhD from the Department of Studies in Psychology, University of Mysore. Her clinical work and teaching covers various domains such as early intervention, parent training, emergent literacy, language acquisition and disorders, linguistics, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and other neurodiversities. She teaches in the Early Childhood Education programmes and anchors the Postgraduate Diploma — Teaching Children with Learning Disabilities in School of Education. She also anchors the Disability Support for students in the Bengaluru campus.

Children with autism are particularly vulnerable during periods of change; and effective planning of transitions can promote positive outcomes. She worked on a study titled, Exploring Early Childhood Transitions of Children on the Autism Spectrum (Small Grant 2024).  It captured the experiences of teachers, early intervention professionals and parents of children on the autism spectrum while navigating transitions, with a particular focus on the alignment of ideas across the stakeholders.

As a Fulbright mentor she supported researcher Michelle Pu between September 2024 and May 2025 through the study, Impact of Affiliate Stigma on the Disclosure of Autism Diagnosis in Bengaluru.
