The 6th National Social Enterprise Idea Challenge

The Social Enterprise Cell at Azim Premji University organises the Idea Challenge every year to provide students of colleges and Universities across India an opportunity to explore social entrepreneurship and share their innovative social impact ideas in a rigorous and competitive manner.

Azim Premji University is going to host the 6th National Social Enterprise Idea Challenge event on campus on 30 April 2022, Saturday.

The event also acts as a networking platform for young minds to meet each other, exchange thoughts and showcase their talent and skills to some of the early stage mentors and funders.

The yearly event provides recognition to the selected student teams besides an opportunity to win cash prizes.

In the last 5 years, the Idea challenge event has become a brand name in the social enterprise ecosystem. Apart from good participation of student teams from across India, every year, the final event attracts visitors from the social enterprise world who are either mentors or are part of early-stage incubators for social impact ideas.

Out of the 18 winning teams from the past 5 years, 9 have gone on to pursue the idea, 6 didn’t pursue further and 3 are still students (yet to graduate from their programmes).

The ones who do pursue the idea benefit from the media coverage and the award resulting from the competition and most have gone on to receive additional financial or mentoring support from incubators and other organisations such as IIT Kanpur, Y Combinator, etc.

Each year, the announcement of awards has generated interest and publicity which has benefitted the winners’ credibility and fundraising efforts, thus providing them more confidence to pursue their dreams.

This year we have shortlisted 16 teams for the final presentation. The teams are from the following institutions:

Ramjas College, Delhi
Azim Premji University
PES University
Kautilya School of Public Policy, Hyderabad

MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, Odisha

The day will begin at 9 am and we will announce the final results by 5 pm. There would be opportunities for audiences to interact with all the teams.
