Teaching Biology

For Biology, Chemistry and Physics major students

This course will provide unique challenges and opportunities to student-teachers, ranging from the fact-heavy nature of curriculum and examinations to the possibility of exposing students to the nature of biology within the broader aspects of the nature of science. This course will build on the perspectives of the nature of science to discuss the nature of biology and its influence on the teaching and learning process of biology across grades 6 to 10. Hands-on activities including laboratory and field practices that guide biological investigations will also be introduced in the contexts of teaching practices as well as pedagogical content knowledge of certain areas within biology.
