Probability

The mathematics of randomness and uncertainty.

In this course you will be encouraged to think about chance and randomness and how they are represented mathematically. We will usually start at the beginning, examining how problems in games of chance were framed and solved. We will then go on to study the axiomatic development of probability, using set theoretic concepts. We will study probability distributions theoretically and with concrete examples. The course will give you a chance to explore in depth the idea of chance events and their mathematical properties.
