Innovation and technological progress are pivotal in the evolution and sustenance of society and economy and impact human welfare. India now seeks to be a ​‘knowledge economy’ and address issues of human and environmental well-being through solutions based on innovation and technological progress as per the Millennium Development Goals. 

But innovation and technological change are complex and call for a close study. They impact social processes, and are impacted by social processes. In this course, we examine how social processes impact systems of innovation and the social construction of technological systems.
