Nature Based Solutions and Biodiversity

Design nature-based solutions that restore biodiversity and strengthen resilience for people and the planet.

This course will build the capacity of students to implement nature-based solutions and biodiversity management for increased ecological resilience and human wellbeing. Students will learn the principles, practices, and applications of nature-based solutions and examine how they contribute to the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity. Through interactive lectures, case studies, and fieldwork, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem services in ecosystem resilience and human well-being especially including marginalised communities. Through real-life case studies or collaborations with an organisation under the guidance of a faculty mentor, students will work on practical projects aimed at nature based solution design, incorporating biodiversity management and ecological principles for real-world applications to improve resilience to climate change and human wellbeing in diverse settings.
